Our featured Non-Profit is Valley CDC 

Valley CDC is a non-profit corporation formed in 1988 by Casa Latina, a local non-profit agency, to address the growing needs of low and moderate income people through developing and preserving affordable rental and ownership housing, cultivating economic self-sufficiency and fostering community leadership. The impetus for forming Valley CDC was to address the shortage of affordable housing and the shrinkage of blue collar jobs in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts. 

Valley CDC’s main office is located in Northampton, MA. Our service area is comprised of Northampton, Easthampton, Amherst, and Hadley.

Since 1988, Valley CDC has developed over 150 units of affordable rental and ownership housing; provided business technical assistance to well over 1000 entrepreneurs; assisted many thousands of homebuyers; and helped low income homeowners correct health and safety code violations in their homes.

Since 1982, The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts has been striving to prevent and alleviate hunger in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire Counties in western Massachusetts. In our region, approximately one in every ten people suffers from chronic food shortages or needs emergency food assistance. As a food bank, they respond to immediate and emergency hunger through their core food distribution programs. The Food Bank partners with more than 400 local food pantries, meal sites, shelters, residential programs, and youth and elder care centers to bring at 7.6 million pounds of food to more than 108,000 people facing hunger across the diverse urban and rural communities in Western Massachusetts each year.  For more information on The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts please click on the link http://www.foodbankwma.org/

NAYP November Networking Event

Join us Thursday, November 10th from 5pm-8pm at Eclipse Restaurant, 186 Main Street Northampton, MA for the Northampton Area Young Professionals Monthly Networking Event.  Come on out to downtown Northampton and supported this months featured Non-Profit The American Diabetes Association.  There will be a special pre-meeting at 4:30 to discuss leadership team opportunities with in NAYP.  This event is free for NAYP members and $5 for non-members.  We look forward to seeing you on the 10th!

Your Chance to get More Involved with NAYP!

On November 10th at 4:30 pm we’re going to host a meeting to discuss opportunities to be more involved with NAYP in the coming year.  It will be held at eclipse prior to our monthly networking event.  

Our NAYP Leadership Team will meet periodically and be involved in running our various programs, including networking events, business development programs and finding ways to expand our community involvement.  Committee members are able to choose their level of involvement with the organization and focus on areas that they feel are important to them.

 We are also forming our Executive Leadership Team for 2012.  This is a core group of 5 individuals who are responsible for the strategic direction of NAYP and ensuring our larger NAYP Committee and Sub-Committees are meeting their objectives.  This group meets on a more frequent basis and requires a higher level of commitment to the organization.
